Empire State Development announced the 10 startups selected to take part in the third round of New York State’s Luminate NY accelerator competition in Rochester on Thursday during the Lightning Awards at the Strong National Museum of Play.

Each of the 10 companies receives an initial investment of $100,000 and a chance to receive $2 million in follow-on funding. The companies will take part in Luminate’s third cohort starting in January at the Sibley Building in downtown Rochester. The six-month program is designed to help the companies speed up the commercialization of their technologies and business, leading up to the Demo Day competition in June. The $25 million program is funded through the Finger Lakes Forward Upstate Revitalization Initiative award and is being administered by NextCorps.
